Synopsis: Exploring an abstract visual concept of remembering,&#38;nbsp;salient features 
permanent marker and ink animation that uncovers and connects childhood 
memories previously faded into obscurity.
About: &#38;nbsp;After my parents had shown me over 1TB of videos and photo's they had 
taken during my childhood, this film was made to capture the feeling of 
nostalgia I got while reminiscing. I had forgotten about most of the things that were shown to me. The 
video's brought back my childhood piece by piece. The abstraction in the
 film is a representation of what it felt like to bring back the 
memories that were tucked far away in my brain; to reconnect those wires
 in my brain that had previously deteriorated. My goal with this film was to use the inspiration I took from the 
home-videos to spark a feeling of relatability and nostalgia in the 
viewer.

Synopsis: A short film about butterflies that are irreverently pinned for display.&#38;nbsp; Meanwhile, a diverse group of women speak up about their complicated relationship with beauty,&#38;nbsp; as if they are suffering a similar fate.&#38;nbsp; A mixed media animation made with paint and other analog techniques.

About: For my graduation film at HKU, I decided to take an animated documentary approach. I connected the visual imagery of butterflies being pinned, to audio that contains the stories of women that are interviewed about their takes on beauty. I wanted to communicate the struggles women have trying to adhere to beauty standards, conveyed through the loss of freedom butterflies experience by getting their wings pinned. The stories were constructed from lengthy interviews between me and a handful of feminine presenting people from my inner circles. The interviews ended up covering a broad spectrum on beauty, from plastic surgery, to transness, to diet culture, to what it means to be a woman. From idea to completion, it took about half a year to create, with 2 months of those being production. The animation was made using pencil, printer paper and gouache. I did collage techniques using transfer paper. Thanks to Anna Eijsbouts for guiding me through this film!

I am a versatile animation artist with a strong desire to 
experiment, illustrate, and design.
            I would describe my work as energetic and whimsical. I let myself get inspired by accidents and 
uncertainty. 
As a filmmaker, I like to focus on emotions or 
atmospheres 
conveyed with diverse mixed media techniques and analog 
materials. 
My films often contain themes of identity and femininity. 
            I have great interests in (art) direction, animation, 
illustration, character design and
 VJing. 
I love being surrounded by other passionate animators and 
illustrators, 
I still have a lot to learn and I am constantly growing!
